The Old Mutual joBerg2c is riding the off-roads and trails less travelled. It’s all about racing, riding, and touring across this magnificent country, and sharing a passion for mountain biking with those who love riding.
WastePlan is privileged to be involved with this tour for the first time since its beginning in 2010. Minimising the waste at this prestigious event, as well as educating riders and reporting on their daily greening efforts, is our main focus. The tour achieved average of 76% recycling rate this year!
The annual Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour continues to be celebrated as the largest timed cycling event on earth. The 110km route attracts over 35,000 cyclists from around the globe and travels through some of the most scenically beautiful parts of the Cape Peninsula. The waste management at the Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour is handled by WastePlan, the tour achieved average 94% recycling rate this year! WastePlan has received a lot of positive feedback about its services.
The Cycle Tour has attracted a number of cycling greats and celebrities over the years, including Matt Damon, Gabriella Sabatini, Lance Armstrong, Jan Ulrich, Eddie Merckx and Miguel Indurain.
WastePlan handles this event each year and achieves overall 88% recycling rate. With the Two Oceans commonly known as the world’s most beautiful marathon, we realise just how precious the beautiful surroundings of the Cape Peninsula is to us. With this in mind we are planning to do our bit for the environment by changing the way waste is managed at the Two Oceans dramatically.
