Stellenbosch University is going green

Stellenbosch University is going green.
How?
Step 1: By starting a residential recycling collection service from all Residences and PSO’s – starting 25 January 2010
Step 2: By introducing recycling collections throughout the whole campus – starting 1 March 2010
Step 3: By monitoring the water and energy efficience from all Residences and Buildings on campus – starting 1 June 2010
This is how step 1 would work:
1. All Residences will receive a separate bin for each room that is clearly marked as the collection bin for ALL recyclable waste.

2.Berco will empty these bins separately into clear bags that are branded with the Waste Plan logo.
3.Waste Plan will collect these clear bags 2 x per week (Tuesdays and Fridays) and weigh each bag individually.
4.The weights that are collected will be registered separately under each Residence and will be available on the Waste Plan website.
5.All material will be delivered to Huis Horison (home for mentally disabled people in Stellenbosch) for sorting and selling .
Waste Plan will do the following for Huis Horison:
- We’ll train their sorters and supervisors to reach optimum sorting rates and quality.
- We’ll negotiate the highest re-sale price in the market (on behalf of them) for the material they’ll sell.
Give us a call or send us a mail with any questions on how you can help the campus go green…
