Residential collections

City of Cape Town - Think Twice projectWastePlan runs residential recycling collections in several areas in Cape Town and Pretoria, for a total of 150 000 households. Because of these collections we manage to divert 2000 tons of waste from landfill every month, and that number is growing by the day.

Residential recycling collections in Cape Town

The City of Cape Town is the first municipality in South Africa to have launched a large scale pilot. The city is planning a city wide roll-out of a door to door recycling collection service.

WastePlan has been involved in this pilot from the start and is now representing the city in servicing 120 000 households. We are currently the largest recycling service provider to the City of Cape Town, diverting around 1600 tons of waste from landfill sites around Cape Town every month. As a city contractor we are active in various parts of the mothercity. To find out your collection schedule or if we collect in your area, take a look at our collection map.

If you have questions about our collections in your area, please take a look at our Frequently Asked Questions or call us at 086 111 6699.  If you wish to start residential recycling in your municipality or estate, please contact us for more information.

Waste Plan truckWe have recently moved to a facility in Kraaifontein, where we sort through 1600 tons of recyclables every month. You can drop off your waste and recyclables free of charge at the drop-off centre at our Kraaifontein facility or any drop-off centre close to you.

WastePlan set up a program to help out the homeless in Cape Town, they collect recycling in areas were we do not offer residential collections and then sell it back to us. Click here to read more about the trolley brigades and our social upliftment program.
