ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL & GOVERNANCE

What is ESG?

ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance. It is an approach to evaluating the extent to which a corporation works on behalf of social goals that go beyond the role of a corporation to maximize profits on behalf of the corporation’s shareholders. Environmental criteria consider how a company safeguards the environment, including corporate policies addressing climate change, for example. Social criteria examine how it manages relationships with employees, suppliers, customers, and the communities where it operates. Governance deals with a company’s leadership, executive pay, audits, internal controls, and shareholder rights.

Waste management is a critical part of your Environmental footprint. Effective environmental waste management helps reduce emissions, minimise landfill use, and support circularity. At WastePlan, we deliver auditable waste diversion data, covering general, recyclable, hazardous, and industrial streams, to help you report clearly on waste-related ESG metrics. Our services align with the principles of resource efficiency, transparency, and regulatory compliance.

  • Waste metrics are a core part of Environmental ESG scoring (Scopes 1, 2, and 3 include waste data).

  • Tracking total waste and diversion rates strengthens transparency and accountability with stakeholders.
  • ESG performance improves when businesses reduce landfill reliance and adopt circular waste handling practices.
